The administration of US President Donald Trump has registered a federal internet domain aliens.gova move that has fueled a flurry of speculation about the imminent release of long-awaited government files on unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP), popularly known as UFOs. Although the site is not yet active, the registration itself, shrouded in secrecy and accompanied by cryptic messages from the White House, is taking place at a time of heightened public and congressional interest in the subject of extraterrestrial life.
“Stay tuned” and the alien emoji
According to publicly available data, the aliens.gov and alien.gov domains were registered on Tuesday, August 17, 2026, and were recorded by automated systems that track new government domains. The technical side of the registration was handled by the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), which is in charge of managing .gov domains on behalf of US federal authorities. The Executive Office of the President, i.e. the White House, is listed as the official registrant. Currently, going to the mentioned address does not lead anywhere, the page is “parked” and without any content.
To journalists’ questions about the purpose of the new domain, the White House’s Deputy Chief Press Secretary, Anna Kelly, responded with a short and cryptic message.
-“Stay tuned!” – she said in an e-mail, adding an emoji of a smiling alien at the end of the sentence.
It is interesting that the identical emoji on social networks was previously used by Defense Minister Pete Hegseth when he shared President Trump’s announcement about the intention to declassify data, which further strengthened the impression that it was a coordinated announcement.
It all started with Obama’s statement
This move by the White House is a direct consequence of the events of about a month ago, when President Trump promised to order the release of government files on aliens. Okidač was a viral clip from a podcast in which former President Barack Obama, in response to a question, asserted that aliens were “real,” though he later clarified that he said that in a statistical sense, not as confirmation of contact. Trump reacted by accusing Obama of revealing “classified information” and, as he said, to “get him out of trouble”, he announced the declassification.
Not long after, on his social network Truth Social, Trump announced: “Based on overwhelming interest, order the Secretary of Defense and other relevant departments and agencies to begin the process of identifying and releasing government files related to extraterrestrial life, Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAP), Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs) and all other information related to these very complex, but extremely interesting and important questions”.
The Pentagon is preparing, but the public is nagging
Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth confirmed that the Pentagon alreadyć is actively working to fulfill the president’s directive. The existing All Domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO), which the Pentagon established in 2022 as the central body for analyzing UAP reports, has so far found no evidence of alien technology, although some cases remain unsolved. It is not known if AARO will be linked to the new website.
The public and the media are now speculating whether aliens.gov will become the central portal for the publication of those documents. Some analysts suggest that the domain could also be used for other purposes, for example for information on immigration, considering that the term “alien” in the English language is also used for foreigners, but the context and messages from the White House point to the fact that it is about space “aliens”. Additional fire is fueled by the claims of celebrities such as former intelligence officer David Grusch, who testified before Congress about the existence of a secret multi-decade program for the reverse engineering of downed aircraft of non-human origin. The speculation was fueled by Trump’s daughter-in-law Lara Trump, who stated that the president is allegedly hearing a special speech about extraterrestrials that he plans to give “at the right time.”
