President of the United States Donald Trump announced this evening (Friday) that the goals of the war are close to being achieved, and stated that “we are considering reducing our significant military efforts in the Middle East as far as the terrorist regime in Iran is concerned.” In a post he published on the “truth social” social network, he also referred to the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz and said that “the security and supervision of the Strait of Hormuz must be ensured by other countries that use it – the US does not use it.”

The president clarified that “if requested, we will assist these countries in their efforts in the Strait of Hormuz, but this should not be necessary after the Iranian threat is removed. It is important to note that this is a minor military operation for those countries.” Trump also stated that the US damaged Iran’s missile capabilities, launchers and everything related to them. “We destroyed Iran’s defense industrial infrastructure. We eliminated Iran’s navy and air force, including the air defense systems. We prevented a nuclear capability from Iran at all costs, and we ensured that the US has the ability to respond quickly and powerfully if such a situation develops.”

The American president concluded his remarks by saying, “We have provided the highest level of protection to our allies in the Middle East, including Israel, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait and others.” Only about two hours ago, Trump clarified that he is not interested in a ceasefire with Iran. “I don’t want a ceasefire with Iran, it executed people who were arrested in protests. I think Israel will be ready to end the war when we are ready to do so.”

Earlier, Trump boasted about the state of the war in Iran, noting that “our situation is very good in Iran. The Iranians no longer have a navy, and now their ships are at the bottom of the sea. We will not allow them to obtain nuclear weapons. If they have nuclear weapons, they will use them.” Shortly before that, he attacked NATO countries because they did not agree to send troops to the Strait of Hormuz. “Without the United States, NATO is a paper tiger,” Trump declared on the social network. “They did not want to join the fight to stop a nuclear Iran. Now that this fight has already been decided militarily, with very little risk for them, they complain about the high oil prices they are forced to pay – but do not want to help open the Strait of Hormuz, a simple military move which is the main reason for the high oil prices. They are cowards, and we will remember that.”

In the morning we published that the Trump administration is considering plans to occupy or impose a blockade on the island of Kharg in Iran, in order to pressure the Iranian regime to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. “President Trump wants Hormuz open. If the island of Kharg has to be taken for that to happen – it will happen. If he decides on an invasion from the coast – it will happen. But the decision has not yet been made,” said a senior official in the American administration.

Yesterday, American Treasury Secretary Scott Besant said that the United States may soon lift sanctions on part of the Iranian oil industry, precisely in the midst of the war. According to him, the step was considered to lower oil prices, which continue to remain very high, alongside the lifting of sanctions from Russia. “In the coming days, we may remove the sanctions from the Iranian oil that is in the sea. It is about 140 million barrels,” Besant said in an interview with the Fox network.

Basant noted that the flow of Iranian oil, which was under sanctions, to the world market will help keep oil prices low during the next 10 to 14 days. Oil prices have been above $100 a barrel for most of the past two weeks, after Iran closed the Strait of Hormuz to shipping and attacked tankers.
