74 businessmen were elected deputies to the Provincial People’s Council

According to statistics of VnExpressbusinessmen elected to be delegates to the Provincial People’s Council reached nearly 63% of the number of candidates. Some localities have an absolute percentage of elected businessmen such as Bac Ninh, Ha Tinh, Hung Yen, Ninh Binh…

Most of them are holding the positions of Chairman of the Board of Directors, General Director, Deputy General Director of companies, bank branches and leaders of business associations. They operate businesses in many fields such as lottery, agriculture, construction, technology, finance, energy…

Of the 74 elected businessmen, there are 49 Party members and 20 people running state-owned or state-controlled enterprises.

Half are under 50 years old. The youngest person at 28 years old is Deputy General Director of Thanh Cong Group Nguyen Anh Tu.

All five businessmen of the “F2 generation”, the successor generation at large businesses founded by their parents, were elected. In Hanoi, there were Mr. Do Vinh Quang (31 years old, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of T&T and Chairman of Vietravel Airlines, son of Mr. Do Quang Hien) and Mr. Nguyen Duy Chinh (41 years old, General Director of Tan A Dai Thanh Group, son of Ms. Nguyen Thi Mai Phuong). In the South, the “F2 generation” elected was Ms. Le Nu Thuy Duong (50 years old, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Director of Long Thanh Golf Investment and Business Company, daughter of Mr. Le Van Kiem).

Ho Chi Minh City is the locality with the most elected businessmen, with 11 people, out of 17 candidates. This group accounts for nearly 9% of the total number of People’s Council deputies for the 2026-2031 term of the city. There are many prominent faces in the business community such as Mr. Le Hong Minh (Chairman of VNG Group) or Mr. Mai Huu Tin (Chairman of U&I Investment Company Mai Huu Tin).

Hanoi ranked second in the number of elected businessmen with 7 people. Mr. Nguyen Duy Chinh, General Director of Tan A Dai Thanh Group, is one of the few delegates re-elected here.

Tan A Dai Thanh’s leaders are committed to contributing initiatives and solutions to promote the application of science and technology, develop the digital economy, as well as strengthen business community connections and promote the role of the private economy in Hanoi.

“Representatives elected by the people must always be aware of their responsibilities to voters. Each opinion must be directed towards the long-term benefits of the community and the sustainable development of the city,” Mr. Chinh said.

Not only Mr. Chinh, in the action program when running for election, most businessmen committed to participating in all meetings of the People’s Council, regularly contacting and reflecting voters’ recommendations to promote local economic growth.

According to regulations, when elected, delegates of the Provincial People’s Council have the right to question the Chairman and other members of the People’s Committee at the same level. They also have the right to propose initiatives to develop local policies or make recommendations on issues deemed necessary. After each meeting of the People’s Council, they are responsible for reporting to voters the results, disseminating and explaining the passed resolutions.

The increasing number of businessmen participating in elected bodies is expected to contribute significantly to the process of policy development and implementation monitoring. The voice of this force in parliament can closely reflect the wishes of businesses and people, thereby influencing changes and modifications to mechanisms and policies that are not practical.
