Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh began his visit to Russia

The special plane carrying Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh arrived at Vnukovo 2 airport in the Russian capital Moscow today. This is the first visit of a Vietnamese senior leader to Russia this year.

Welcoming the Prime Minister at the airport were Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko, Russian Ambassador to Vietnam Gennady Bezdetko, Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia Dang Minh Khoi and officials of the two countries and the Vietnamese community in Russia.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh plans to hold talks with Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, and meet with President Vladimir Putin, Senate President Valentina Matviyenko and Speaker of the Russian House of Representatives Vyacheslav Volodin.

The Prime Minister will discuss with Russian leaders about strengthening and consolidating bilateral relations, expanding cooperation between the two countries in the fields of economics, trade, investment, infrastructure construction, science and technology, education and training, culture, arts and especially nuclear energy, oil and gas.

The Prime Minister’s visit contributes to raising the level of bilateral cooperation, laying the foundation for strategic cooperation between the two countries in many important fields, creating a breakthrough in a new era of development.

The two sides plan to sign important agreements, as well as enhance cooperation in the energy sector, especially nuclear power and oil and gas.

Vietnam and Russia established diplomatic relations in 1950, upgraded to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2012. Last year the two countries just celebrated the 75th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations.

In 2025, two-way trade turnover will reach 4.77 billion USD, according to Vietnam Customs.

Oil and gas – energy is an important pillar in bilateral cooperation. The two sides are negotiating and promoting the signing of documents in the field of geological exploration and oil and gas exploitation, paying attention to restoring and promoting cooperation in the nuclear field and developing nuclear power in Vietnam.
