Iran disassociates itself from the missile attack against the Diego García base and speaks of Israel’s “false flag”

The Government of Iran has disassociated itself this Monday from the alleged attack with intercontinental ballistic missiles against the British-American base of Diego García, in the Indian Ocean, and has pointed to a “false flag” that “even the Secretary General of NATO refuses to support”, after Mark Rutte stated in an interview that he “cannot confirm” that Tehran launched this type of projectiles.

“That even the Secretary General of NATO, who is known to pressure members of the Alliance to appease the United States and support its illegal war against Iran, refuses to endorse Israel’s latest disinformation says a lot: the world is tired of these tired and discredited ‘false flag’ mastheads,” Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei said in a message on his social networks.

According to information published on Saturday by the American newspaper ‘The Wall Street Journal’, Iran had launched two missiles against the aforementioned base, which is of strategic importance and located about 4,000 kilometers from Iran. Thus, one of the missiles failed in mid-flight and the other had been intercepted by a US Navy ship, without Tehran claiming responsibility for the launches.

Afterwards, the British Foreign Minister, Yvette Cooper, condemned Iran’s “reckless” attacks, while the head of the Israeli Army, Eyal Zamir, assured that the projectiles launched were intercontinental ballistic missiles that could reach European capitals such as Berlin, Paris and Rome.

Later, Rutte stated in an interview with the American television network CBS that NATO “cannot confirm” for now that the projectiles launched were of that type and stressed that an investigation is underway. “What we know for sure is that (Iran) is close to having those capabilities. In the case of Diego García, we are still analyzing it,” he said, after once again defending the Israeli and United States offensive against Iran.
