DFB team: Nmecha and Pavlovic are out – Stiller and Führich nominated

Julian Nagelsmann has to reschedule. The national coach has to do without two other national players at the start of the World Cup year – Aleksandar Pavlovic and Felix Nmecha are struck or injured. In their place, Nagelsmann nominated Stuttgart’s Angelo Stiller and Chris Führich.

The DFB team will have to do without Jamal Musiala in the international matches on Friday (8.45 p.m./RTL) in Basel against Switzerland and three days later in Stuttgart against Ghana (8.45 p.m./ARD). The Munich player was not called up in consultation with FC Bayern because he had shown a reaction to his ankle after his serious injury. Nathaniel Brown (foot) and Jamie Leweling (calf) are also injured.

Nmecha was hit hardest. The Dortmund player will be out for several weeks due to an injury to the lateral ligament in his right knee. Munich’s Pavlovic was absent from the DFB team’s meeting on Monday in Herzogenaurach due to hip problems.

Stiller could replace him in the center of midfield alongside Leon Goretzka. “Angelo is an outstandingly good footballer with a lot of potential and a very consistent performance,” said Nagelsmann about the VfB professional when the squad was announced last Thursday, but he sees Pavlovic “a bit ahead”.

Other alternatives for the six are the returnees Anton Stach and Pascal Groß. National coach Julian Nagelsmann has long decided on captain Joshua Kimmich as right-back.
