“It was close to the gold but all in all I liked the second part of the race and I fought, then it’s always a question of centimeters. In that jump there was a lot of determination, a lot of desire to go and get the medal, I felt very emotionally involved and that’s what sport should convey, emotions. I thought I had a sort of curse with the World Championships because something always happened but today, despite my usual ‘laughs’, I finally managed to achieve this goal”, Iapichino’s words after the race. “I’m not an early riser and I had to try to adapt: ​​on the first jump I was too low, on the second far away, on the third nothing and I told myself to wake up. Here in Torun I made my debut in the national team at the 2021 European Indoor Championships and so far I’ve had a complicated relationship with this arena, happy to have made peace with it. And I’ll be able to get those five centimeters back in the summer, at the European Championships in Birmingham”, she adds.
