The United States issued a global security alert due to possible attacks by allied groups on Iran

“The State Department advises Americans around the world, and especially in the Middle East, to exercise extreme caution. Americans abroad should follow the recommendations of security alerts issued by the nearest American embassy or consulate,” says the official statement released by the New York Post.

The warning was issued and is aimed especially at those who are outside the country, with special attention to areas considered at risk, such as the Middle East.

In addition, it mentions possible complications in international transfers. “Periodic airspace closures can cause travel disruptions. US diplomatic facilities, including outside the Middle East, have been targeted,” the text adds.

In that sense, the organization highlighted that groups aligned with Iran could expand their objectives: “Groups that support Iran may attack other US interests abroad or places associated with the United States and/or US citizens around the world.”

Days ago, the Iranian military spokesman, Abolfazl Shekarchi, assured that attacks could occur in tourist destinations frequented by Westerners.

For this reason, the North American government reiterated the importance of staying informed, following the instructions of the consulates and evaluating the risks before traveling.
