The Meadows Museum in Dallas presents the first exhibition of Spanish painter Rubén Guerrero in the United States

The Meadows Museum in Dallas hosts, until June 21, the exhibition of the Spanish painter Rubén Guerrero within the ‘MAS:Meadows/ARCO Artist Spotlight’ program, which every two years chooses a Spanish artist with a proven track record and with the aim of projecting their work in the United States.

In this way, the Sevillian artist (Utrera, 1976) becomes the third selected so that his works can be seen at the Meadows Museum after having presented Ignasi Aballí (Barcelona, ​​1958) and Teresa Lanceta (Barcelona, ​​1951) in the two previous editions.

This program was created in 2019 for a period of six years between the Meadows and the ARCO Foundation. In 2025, the two institutions extended their cooperation agreement for three more editions (2028, 2030 and 2032), with the collaboration of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, through the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), which will make it possible for three more artists have visibility in the United States.

At the Meadows Museum, Rubén Guerrero now presents four large-format works which, although they have not been made expressly for the exhibition, have been selected because to a large extent they describe his most recurrent interests in his career, as indicated by the institution. The works span a period of two years, along with a piece made in 2016.

This exhibition in Dallas, curated by Patricia Manzano, curator of the Meadows Museum, coincides with another titled ‘Suupergrafico’which is exhibited at the José Guerrero Center in Granada, where in addition to maintaining a dialogue with José Guerrero (Granada, 1914-Barcelona 1991), with work present in the Meadows, it does so with the architecture of the building, a discipline that has great relevance in the work of Rubén Guerrero. He is also participating in another group exhibition in Seville, ‘Coloramas’, and has been present at ARCO Madrid 2026 with his gallery Luis Adelantado in Valencia.

As he added, “Guerrero is the third artist selected within the framework of our collaboration with the ARCO Foundation, but the first painter to receive this distinction“. “I deeply thank ARCO, the selection committees on both sides of the Atlantic and, for the first time, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Spain (AECID) for their support to this important initiative to bring Spanish artists to the United States“he emphasized.

Meanwhile, the director of ARCO, Maribel López, has stressed that the ARCO Foundation follows “betting on the internationalization of Spanish art” and celebrate “the opportunity of this project that enhances the visibility of Spanish artists.”

Guerrero’s family environment favored his dedication to painting since his father and two of his brothers, in addition to Rubén, studied Fine Arts. Rubén Guerrero has been working for more than 15 years with the Luis Adelantado gallery in Valencia, and his work is part of relevant collections such as Related Group Collection (Miami), Sammlung Friedrichs (Bonn), Fundació Sorigué, Banco Sabadell Collection, Domus Artium Contemporary Art Center (DA2, Salamanca), DKV Collection and ‘la Caixa’ Foundation, among others.

The work of Rubén Guerrero moves on the subtle line that separates figuration and abstraction, in a work in which disciplines such as photography, sculpture and paintingalways at the service of the latter. Among contemporary creators he feels attracted to creators far from his way of working “such as Richard Tuttle, Oiticica, Raoul De Keyzer, Isamu Noguchi and in Spain Luis Gordillo, for their constant non-conformism.”
