Viettel expects revenue growth of at least 20% per year in the international market

This goal was shared by Lieutenant General Cao Duc Thang, Chairman and General Director of Viettel, at the group’s 20th anniversary of investing abroad on March 28.

Starting from the Cambodian market in 2006, up to now, Viettel is present in 16 countries (including countries with investment activities and representative offices). To date, Viettel’s foreign investment return rate has reached 92%.

Telecommunications business activities in 10 foreign markets are managed by Viettel International Investment Corporation (Viettel Global). This is also one of four Viettel companies listed on the stock exchange, with a capitalization of about 10 billion USD.

Mr. Tao Duc Thang said Viettel’s overseas investment program “has brought very successful results”. In the coming time, according to Mr. Thang, this business aims to grow at least 20% per year internationally through continuing to expand markets and be ready to face new challenges.

This is a high growth rate and a challenge compared to many businesses in Vietnam. However, Viettel’s plan also has a basis because last year, the group’s revenue from the international market reached about 3.3 billion USD, an increase of 24% compared to 2024.

Viettel currently holds the largest market share in 7 out of 10 foreign markets (including 4 Southeast Asian countries: Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, Timor Leste; 4 African countries: Mozambique, Cameroon, Tanzania, Burundi; 2 American countries: Haiti, Peru).

Speaking at the event, Defense Minister Phan Van Giang said that Viettel’s investment abroad has demonstrated its ability to master industry, as well as transform from a domestic enterprise into a global technology corporation. According to him, this also serves as a bridge to promote friendly relations and cooperation between Vietnam and other countries.

The Minister requested Viettel to expand its growth space in the coming time, moving from participating in the market to proactively shaping the market and choosing partners. Along with that, Viettel must also gradually enhance its position and role in strategic technology fields.
