The following week, the Appeals Committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) overturned Senegal’s victory, justifying its decision by applying Articles 82 and 84 of AFCON regulations, according to which if the team refuses to play or leaves the field before the scheduled end of the match, it “shall be considered a loser and shall be definitively eliminated from the competition. On Wednesday, the Senegalese Football Federation appealed this decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) and did not give up celebrating the title that it still believes rightfully belongs to.
