The Government confirmed the new electricity rates that will apply from April

The measure was published this Tuesday in the Official Gazettethrough a series of resolutions of the National Energy Regulatory Entity (ENRE). The increase will reach residential, commercial and industrial users.

The rise, which in the case of Edesur it will be 1.98% compared to March, it occurs in the context of the energy emergency ordered by the Government in December 2023, at which time it was considered “imperative to continue with the correction of the relative prices of the economy”, among which it included “the rates concerning the natural gas and electric energy sectors.”

In this sense, “the rates corresponding to the electric energy transportation and distribution segment are increased according to the results of the five-year rate reviews carried out by Enargas.”

“The objective of the established update mechanism is that the value of the remuneration received by the distributor is maintained during the entire five-year tariff period in real terms,” the regulations state.

As to Edenorwhich covers 20 municipalities in the northwest of Greater Buenos Aires and the northwest area of ​​the Federal Capital, the increase starting in April will be 2.04%, as indicated by the ENRE resolution 198/2026.

In both cases, the increases will fall on the residential users with and without subsidy and for “Neighborhood and Town Clubs (CdByP) that make up the list prepared for this purpose by the Ministry of Tourism and Sports” in 2022.
