Meta test Instagram Plus, a subscription with longer stories, private lists and exclusive features

Meta has begun testing the integration of a service Instagram Plus paid subscription which will offer exclusive features for content shared in stories such as preview mode, limited audience lists or the ability to extend stories beyond 24 hours.

As the technology company led by Mark Zuckerberg already announced in January of this year, Meta has been working on incorporating a subscription model payment with exclusive functions for the Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp applications, in order to promote “greater productivity and creativity” and offer “a premium experience.”

Now, the company has started testing it with Instagram Plus, and new subscription service currently available on a limited basis to some users, offering new story sharing features on the social network, to which users with the free option will not have access.

These features include the ability to lengthen the duration of stories for more than 24 hoursin addition to allowing you to create limited audience lists beyond the Best Friends option. That is, create closed lists with the desired users to share stories that are only available to said people.

Also included is a preview modewhich allows you to view the content of the stories without appearing as a viewer. On the other hand, it offers advanced information on metrics such as how many people have rewatched the story published and facilitates viewer list searchinstead of having to scroll through it all.

Another exclusive function allows highlight one story a week so that more people can see it and a ‘Superlike’ animated that can be sent to stories in which you want to “show some special love.”

This was shared by analyst Matt Navarra in a post on Threads, who has had access to the new subscription option, confirmed by the company itself. Specifically, the Meta spokesperson has stated that Instagram Plus has been launched as trial in several countries globallyamong them, Philippines, Japan and Mexicoalthough only a limited group of users have access.

For its part, on the Instagram Plus help service page, Meta details that it is a feature that “is not available to everyone at this time“, although it does not specify the regions where this test has been launched.

Regarding the pricesAs shared by some users who have had access to Instagram Plus and Navarra has collected, the subscription is available in Filipinas for 65PH per month (about 0.94 euros to change). In the case of Mexicothe test has been launched for 39MX (about 1.87 euros to change) and in Japan 329Y (1.80 euros to change). However, it offers a free trial for one month.

“We hope these tests will help us understand what is most valuable to users in a premium feature set,” shared a Meta spokesperson, who also confirmed this test in statements to Engadget.
