Tarmo Peltokoski and the Hong Kong Philharmonic to Helsinki

Conductor Tarmo Peltokoski brings the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra to Helsinki on November 28, 2026, i.e. in his first season as the orchestra’s musical director.

During the current concert season, he has been working in Hong Kong under the title of Music Director Designate.

Concert is part of the orchestra’s European tour in November–December. As of Monday, the orchestra had not yet announced the other concerts of the tour.

The soloist in the Helsinki concert is a pianist Martin Helmchen. Peltokoski himself will also play as a piano soloist in the concert, because the program has Camille Saint-Saënsin Carnival of animals. A version for orchestra and two pianos will be heard.

The traditional Deutsche Grammophon record company released a recording of the latter work by Tarmo Peltokoski and the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra in March 2026.

In addition to the future music director of the Hong Kong Philharmonic, Tarmo Peltokoski is principal guest of the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen and the Rotterdam Philharmonic, music director of the Toulouse National Orchestra and honorary conductor of the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra.
