Israeli businessman will pay his ex-wife $50 million for concealing income during divorce proceedings

The Tel Aviv District Court has upheld a family court’s ruling that awarded $50 million to the ex-wife of an Israeli businessman.

The couple had been married for more than 25 years. The woman argued that her husband’s outstanding business successes and her boundless trust in him led to a division of roles: she took care of the household, giving him the opportunity to freely concentrate on financial matters. Before the conflict began, the family lived at a level typical of the top percentile of the population: luxury housing, luxury cars, numerous service personnel and expensive vacations – all of this was provided by the husband’s thriving business in the financial sector.

The family lived in Israel in a luxurious house in the center of the country with an area of ​​about 1600 square meters. m, equipped with an elevator, heated floors, three kitchens, a gym, a spa with a sauna, a swimming pool, a tennis court and more. The house was registered to a foreign company. The woman insisted that the house belonged to both spouses and was built on a plot acquired jointly, but by decision of the husband it was registered to the company.

A family court has ruled that a businessman he described as a “financial genius” acted in bad faith when he used his knowledge and expertise to create a complex trust structure to hide assets from being divided during divorce proceedings.

The district court, after reviewing the facts of the case, determined that the family court’s decision was “highly reasoned, properly analyzes the facts and draws correct conclusions from them.”
