More than 950 thousand passengers have traveled through Mexicana de Aviación

Since its start of operations, at the end of 2023, Mexicana de Aviación has transported 953,600 passengers and has sold one million 22 thousand tickets; It has accumulated more than 19,900 flight hours in more than 14,400 commercial trips throughout the national territory, in which the airline has a presence in 14 destinations, reported the company director, Leobardo Ávila.

For President Claudia Sheinbaum, it is important that there is a greater supply in aviation and that the Mexican State has a company that offers more affordable prices, because her vision is not profit for its own sake. “All those who say that it is actually subsidized, it was always designed that way, that in the first years it received budgetary support and that, from a certain year on, it already had its finances where it did not require any additional support,” said the president.

Meanwhile, General Isidro Pastor, director of the Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA), announced that since it was inaugurated in 2022, 18.6 million passengers have been transported. Likewise, through the 49 “freight” companies that operate from the AIFA until December 2025, one million 136 thousand tons of cargo had been transferred.

Sheinbaum highlighted that “the AIFA works very well. Now, we have a sanction from the United States government… (but) we are about to resolve it.”

On the other hand, as of yesterday the Airport Use Fee (TUA) at the Mexico City International Airport increased 2.9 percent for domestic flights and 3 percent for international flights. The percentage corresponds to the annual adjustment authorized by the Treasury.
