Vietcombank wants to issue more than 1 billion bonus shares

The above plan was announced by the Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam (Vietcombank) in documents prepared for its annual meeting, taking place on April 24. This bank is expected to earn more than 10,686 billion VND, which will be added to capital for business activities and improve financial capacity.

Vietcombank leaders also said that increasing capital will help this unit have resources to restructure weak credit institutions assigned by management agencies. In addition, this bank also wants to support customers during the period of economic recovery and development.

Previously, a series of banks such as MB, VPBank, SeABank or NCB also submitted to shareholders plans to increase capital for this year. Currently, Vietcombank is leading the industry in this indicator.

Before the capital increase this year, this bank also plans to privately offer up to 543.1 million shares to up to 55 investors including strategic investors. This plan is not yet complete.

Regarding the business plan, Vietcombank targets credit growth within the allowed limit of the State Bank. The bad debt ratio remains below 1.5%. This bank has not yet announced its profit plan for 2026.

Vietcombank also submitted to shareholders the establishment of a subsidiary bank at the Vietnam International Financial Center (IFC) with a charter capital of VND 3,000 billion. This is a condition for this bank to be present and directly participate in the process of forming IFC in Vietnam.

In 2025, this bank’s pre-tax profit will be more than 44,000 billion VND, an increase of more than 4% over the same period in 2024. Credit growth will reach 15%, according to approval from the State Bank, to 1.7 million billion VND. Total assets also improved by 17%, to 2.4 million billion VND.
