French container ship becomes the first ship to sail to Europe through the Strait of Hormuz

The French-owned and Maltese-flagged cargo ship CMA CGM Kribi passed through the Strait of Hormuz after leaving a port in the UAE.

The container ship became the first Western Europe-bound vessel to pass through the Strait of Hormuz since the start of the US-Israel-Iran conflict, according to shipping tracking data.

The Maltese-flagged container ship CMA CGM Kribi left the port of Ghantout on the Persian Gulf side of the United Arab Emirates and passed through the strait on Friday, MarineTraffic data showed, Turkish news agency Anadolu reported.

The vessel, which indicated its destination as “belonging to France”, was in the Gulf of Oman after completing its passage. CMA CGM is a French global shipping company operating approximately 700 ships worldwide.
