Bloomberg: US will delay delivery of Tomahawk missiles to Japan due to war with Iran

Fulfillment of a Japanese order for the supply of hundreds of American-made Tomahawk cruise missiles will be delayed due to the war with Iran, Bloomberg reports, citing informed sources.

According to the report, Washington notified Tokyo that delivery deadlines for 400 missiles scheduled for March 2028 would be missed.

Tomahawks are central to Tokyo’s new strategy to equip its military with long-range strike capabilities to counter threats from China and North Korea.

Before the start of the war, American stockpiles numbered about 4,000 missiles – including obsolete modifications and anti-ship variants. In 2025, RTX produced about 100 new missiles, and about 240 more obsolete ones were upgraded to the current Block V standard. According to the source, more than two years of production were used up during the war.
