Nokia’s share price tickles eight euros – a big deal for New York investors

Nokia’s share price has been one of the strong risers on the Helsinki Stock Exchange today. At its highest, the share price has already been close to eight euros at 7.944 euros.

At 17:30, Nokia’s share price was up 6.1 percent at 7.93 euros.

The last time Nokia’s share price was over eight euros on the Helsinki Stock Exchange was in February 2011.

However, the price of eight euros was briefly reached already in New York on Easter Monday, when the market was closed in Helsinki. Naturally, the trading currency in New York is the dollar, but Monday’s highest quotation in euros was more than eight euros.

The figure above shows the price of the Nokia share on the Helsinki Stock Exchange and the price of the share deposit quoted in New York. The figure shows the intraday price development. It also shows when the share has not been able to trade on the stock exchange. When both exchanges are open, prices go hand in hand.

The chart also shows that in the last few days, Nokia’s share has been boosted when it has been able to trade in New York. The strong price increase on Easter Monday can be explained, at least playfully, by the fact that Helsinki’s more rapidly developing trading was not open. On several days, the rate has either turned up or the rise has significantly strengthened when New York trading opens.
