Due to the collision in the Sveti Rok tunnel on the A1 highway this morning, vehicles were stuck in a 10-kilometer long queue, and as reported HTV according to initial information, four people were injured.
– According to the first information we have, it is a collision, a traffic accident involving one vehicle. The driver lost control of his vehicle and hit the tunnel formwork from the side, that is, the killing site itself. The first information from the field was quite worrying since the vehicle was pretty much destroyed in a traffic accident. We immediately proceeded to close the Sveti Rok tunnel in both directions – Davor Bičanić, head of the Central Center for Monitoring and Traffic Management, told HRT.
– Emergency medical assistance arrived in about 20 minutes and took the victims away. There are four injured people and according to the first information, it is a minor accident – said Bičanić.
He also explained that extracting people was complicated.
– There was quite a complex, complicated firefighting intervention, that is, the intervention of extracting people from that vehicle, since the vehicle was badly destroyed, so it was necessary to cut certain parts of the vehicle – he said.
At midday, HAK reported that after the investigation of the traffic accident in the Sveti Rok tunnel, two traffic lanes are running in both directions, in the direction of Zagreb, the convoy is moving with occasional stops between the Sveti Rok tunnel and the Zadar II junction.
