Vance hopes that negotiations with Iran will be positive

Vance spoke about this before leaving Washington for Pakistan.

The US and Iran are set to meet in Pakistan to negotiate an end to the war, while the prospect of peace remains clouded by the dispute over the Strait of Hormuz and Israel’s bombing of Lebanon.

It is expected that the American side will be represented at the meeting by US Vice President JD Vance, special envoys Steve Wittkoff and Jared Kushner, and the Iranian side by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf.

It is not yet clear whether the talks will start today or tomorrow. However, non-working days have been declared today and tomorrow in the capital Islamabad. the main avenue leading to the Red Zone, where the most important government buildings are, is closed. A large number of security forces have also been deployed. Such measures are usually taken for major diplomatic events.
