Bundesliga Friday game: Augsburg loses the lead, Hoffenheim shows morale

TSG Hoffenheim has suffered the next setback in the tight race for the lucrative places in the Champions League. Coach Christian Ilzer’s team showed morale, but they couldn’t get past a 2-2 (2-2) draw at FC Augsburg and are still in the doldrums. TSG, which has only managed one win in the last seven games, also missed the chance to temporarily catch up with RB Leipzig and VfB Stuttgart in terms of points. The gap to the top four could even grow to five points this weekend.

Alexis Claude-Maurice gave FCA the lead in the 11th minute. Michael Gregoritsch added just two minutes later. The TSG defense looked poor when they conceded both goals. However, Hoffenheim fought back: Robin Hranac (35th) scored, Bazoumana Touré (42nd) equalized with the kind help of FCA goalkeeper Finn Dahmen.

“We didn’t have a good start, but we reacted very well,” said TSG professional Leon Avdullahu on Sky – but he still demanded: “We definitely have to show a reaction and win another game.”

FCA remained winless for the fifth game in a row because Claude-Maurice shot a penalty kick over the goal (85th), but has a comfortable eight-point lead over the relegation place. TSG, on the other hand, is under pressure on the next matchday against Borussia Dortmund if they are to make it to the premier class.
