Chinese Lenovo bought Israeli startup Infinidat

Chinese tech giant Lenovo announced late Thursday that it has completed its acquisition of Israeli storage solutions startup Infinidat. The transaction amount is not disclosed.

This is Lenovo’s first acquisition in Israel and the first acquisition of an Israeli startup by a major Chinese corporation in recent years.

Infinidat will operate as a business unit within Lenovo’s Infrastructure Solutions Group.

Infinidat was founded in 2011 by Moshe Yanai, who served as CEO until 2020 and was recently declared bankrupt. The company has about 500 employees, including 300 in Israel. All employees will retain their positions, and Lenovo intends to significantly expand the Israeli center.
