The US denies reports that Washington has agreed to unfreeze Iranian assets

Earlier, a senior Iranian source told Reuters that the United States had agreed to release frozen Iranian assets held in Qatar and other foreign banks. Tehran welcomed the move, calling it a sign of Washington’s “seriousness” at the talks in Islamabad.

According to the source, who wished to remain anonymous, the decision to release the funds is “directly related to ensuring safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz.”

Let us recall that the Iranian side previously put forward the release of assets and a ceasefire in Lebanon as the main preconditions for starting a dialogue with the United States.
