Athletico tries to react in the Arena after two defeats; see the probable team

Athletico returns to the field this Sunday in search of recovery in the Brasileirão. After two consecutive defeats, Furacão had a full week of training to adjust the team and get back on track to victory.

The challenge will be against Chapecoense, at 11am, at Arena da Baixada, for the 11th round of the competition. Playing at home, Rubro-Negro is betting on the strength of the fans to overcome the unstable moment and get three points back. Within their domains, Athletico has been practically unbeatable. There were four victories and only one defeat in Caldeirão.

Recent stumbles against Bahia and Atlético-MG saw Athletico fall to sixth place in the table. Despite this, the team remains close to the front group and sees the confrontation as an important opportunity to even return to the G4.

Athletico has a maintained base

For the match, the coach Odair Hellmann must maintain the base of the team that played in the last round, in Belo Horizonte. The main absence continues to be the defender they will havewhich remains vetoed by the medical department.

With this, the coach must once again bet on the system with three defenders, formed by Arthur Dias, Aguirre and Esquivel. The idea is to provide more defensive solidity and free up the wingers to support the attack, one of the team’s main characteristics.

Furthermore, striker Felipe Chiqueti remains unfit to play. The player was away from training due to a strong virus and, because of this, Furacão treats the promise’s return with great caution.

Athletico’s probable lineup has: Saints; Arthur Dias, Aguirre and Esquivel; Benavídez, Luiz Gustavo, Jadson, Dudu and Léo Derik (Julimar); Mendoza and Viveros.

Chapecoense has coach debut

Pressured due to the poor campaign in the Brasileirão, Chapecoense arrives for the clash with a new player in charge. Former Coritiba, coach Fábio Matias left Portuguesa, which competes in Series D, to take over the club from Santa Catarina.

The last time Fábio Matias worked at an elite club in the Brazilian Championship was at Juventude. At the time, the coach helped the club from Rio Grande do Sul stay in 2024, but was fired after five defeats in the first seven games of the Brasileirão the following year.
