Orlando: "Leadership is achieved if the Democratic Party is the protagonist"

One leadership diffusa an autonomous European project from the opposing blocs and the immediate mobilization of civil society to stem what he defines as the nationalist drift of the right. Andrea Orlandoa prominent exponent of the Democratic Party and former Minister of Labor, charts the course of centre-left speaking in Naples at the event “The new southern question in today’s Europe”.

For Orlando, the theme of command must not be limited to personalism, but must pass through a strengthening ofcollective identity of the Nazarene. “I am convinced that the question of leadership can be resolved not with the protagonism of the individual leader but with the protagonism of our party. Analyzing the recent referendum outcome, Orlando warns against easy enthusiasm: “The vote al referendum it puts the right in crisis, but does not allow the center-left to win. The proposed strategy provides for the immediate engagement of those people who have mobilized and who risk returning to theabstentionism. The final warning concerns the defense of national interests against the industrial decline: “I believe that the watchword of this mobilization that we must try to launch is to defend the nation from the nationalists.
