John Terry is set to enter the world of investment via Colchester

Chelsea legend, John Terry, is close to announcing the completion of an acquisition deal, within an investment group, of Colchester United, a competitor in the second division in England, based in Essex, for about 14 million pounds sterling.
Terry is expected to join a list of international stars who have invested in English clubs, such as Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, owners of Wrexham, which has achieved successive rise from the amateur leagues, along with Will Ferrell, who owns a stake in Leeds United, and rapper Snoop Dogg, a shareholder in Swansea City.
An informed source said: “The deal has been in the works for some time, and John Terry is very excited to enter the management experience. He is passionate about supporting small clubs and helping them gain the support and fame they deserve. He has attended the team’s training more than once, and believes that there are promising talents within the club.”
He added: “The Colchester management is happy to have a personality of Terry’s caliber join, because of the experience and moral influence he can add to help the team advance in the standings and strive to advance.”
The former Blues and England captain, who won five Premier League titles, is currently working at the Chelsea Academy, and is expected to continue his role there in parallel with his new investment project. His nephew, Frankie Terry (22 years old), also plays for Colchester, which currently occupies a mid-table position.
In terms of history, the club’s last coronation dates back to 1992, when it defeated Witton Albion 3-1 at Wembley Stadium, to win the FA Cup title. It also previously attracted attention by eliminating Leeds United 3-2 in the fifth round in 1971.
