Trump: Iran called and “wants to make a deal” + US blockade of the Strait of Hormuz has begun

“We reached agreement on a number of issues. However, the reality is that on two key issues the positions were too far apart and ultimately no agreement could be reached,” Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baghai told state broadcaster IRIB. He did not say what the topics were.

Baghai had previously written on Platform X that the talks were about the Strait of Hormuz, the nuclear issue, war reparations, the lifting of sanctions and an end to the war. Preventing Iran from ever developing a nuclear bomb and opening the Strait of Hormuz, which is important for oil trade, are central concerns of the USA.

Baghai did not rule out further negotiations with the USA. When asked by the reporter whether diplomacy has ended or is still ongoing, he said: “It never ends. Diplomacy is always an instrument to secure and safeguard national interests, and diplomats must fulfill their duties in all circumstances, be it in time of war or in time of peace.”
