Kompany: “Real Madrid’s latest results do not reflect their quality”

The coach of Bayern Munich, Vincent Kompany, assured this Tuesday that they are “prepared for the best version of Real Madrid” in the second leg of the Champions League quarterfinals, and said that the “latest results do not reflect the quality” of the Merengue team’s squad.

“We always have a lot of respect for Real Madrid. We did it before playing at the Bernabéu and now. Of course, we are prepared for the best version of Real Madrid. I think their latest results do not reflect the quality of this team, which continues to be one of the best in Europe,” analyzed the Belgian coach in the pre-match press conference at the Allianz Arena this Wednesday (9:00 p.m.).

Kompany addressed the history of the white club and assured that many teams also have their continental history. “What is the history of Barcelona? What is the history of Atlético de Madrid? Liverpool, Bayern, PSG, Arsenal? Everyone can tell a good story about when they did something incredible. Real Madrid can and we can,” he defended.

“When we faced Inter Milan last year and lost 1-2 at home, and we went to Milan, we were 100% sure that we could still come back. So, when Real Madrid feels that they can still come back, I believe them. I want our team to believe that we can win this game, and everything else can be written later,” he added.

Kompany knows that if they develop all their strengths during the match, “it is difficult for any team” to play against Bayern. “That is my priority. I will never ignore the opportunities they had, but to solve the problems we have, we can never lose the things that make us strong. That is really important, having conviction in what you do. That is the mentality,” he said.

Kompany believes that “the most important thing” for this type of encounter is “to be mentally and physically prepared.” “That is the basis. The steps we took were good. We were also happy for that game and we need that positive emotion,” he commented.
