The EU 2024 decision to suspend Georgia’s accession negotiations is a pressure policy. Bychorishvili

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Maka Bojchorishvili, stated that the 2024 decision to suspend Georgia’s accession negotiations with the European Union is a “policy of oppression”.

“Indeed, the dialogue with Brussels on Georgia’s EU membership was suspended in 2024, but it happened at the initiative of European bureaucrats. When Brussels makes a decision, we will be ready to start negotiations,” the minister said, emphasizing that in response to the EU decision, then Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili stated that Georgia aims to become a member of the EU by 2028 and will be ready economically to start membership negotiations by that time.

Answering the question about Georgia-Russia relations, the Georgian Foreign Minister said that the country’s leadership is doing everything possible for a peaceful settlement.
