Patri Guijarro leaves the national team with a sprained ankle

Spanish national team midfielder Patri Guijarro left the Spain camp, pending the duel against Ukraine this Saturday to qualify for the 2027 World Cup, after confirming this Wednesday that she has a sprained right ankle.

“Patri Guijarro has been dropped from Sonia Bermúdez’s squad after suffering a sprained ankle in the match played yesterday against England,” announced the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) in an official statement.

The Barça player could not finish this Tuesday’s match at Wembley, which ended in a defeat (1-0) against England, and was replaced ten minutes from the end with a sprained ankle. The national coach, Sonia Bermúdez, was concerned after the game about Guijarro finally leaving Spain, and becoming a possible problem for Barça.

“After the tests carried out by the RFEF Medical Services, it has been decided that the midfielder returns to Barcelona to begin her recovery,” added the Federation with the loss of a fundamental pillar Guijarro in the Barça team, with the Champions League semi-final against Bayern in ten days.
