Chrome browser in Vietnam is integrated with Gemini chatbot

In an announcement on April 21, Google said it had deployed Gemini on Chrome to users in several Asia-Pacific markets, including Vietnam, Australia, Indonesia, Japan, Philippines, Singapore, and Korea. This feature will appear on the browser in both Mac, Windows and iOS computer versions.

Unlike the current Gemini experience, which is accessed on a separate page, Gemini integrated into Chrome will always appear in a corner of the Chrome application window. Users can open it anytime while browsing the web.

At that time, a Gemini chatbot window will appear next to it and automatically read information on the website the user is opening. From there, they can interact without opening new tabs or loading data into Gemini. According to Google, Gemini on Chrome is also more deeply integrated with services in its ecosystem. Accordingly, users can create appointments via Google Calendar, look up locations using Google Maps, compose and send emails via Gmail, or ask questions related to videos on YouTube without leaving the currently open website.

In an experiment with watching YouTube, users could open Gemini and ask the chatbot to summarize the video content. Or when receiving a meeting invitation, users can request to be included in the calendar, or help compose an email without opening an additional window.

In addition to text interaction, Google also said that this Gemini can process images thanks to the power of Nano Banana 2. This allows editing images on the web with quick text commands. For example, when encountering a photo on the website, users can open Gemini to request the creation of another photo on request based on the original photo, without having to download it. Besides, the Personal Intelligence feature helps Gemini remember context from previous conversations to provide responses more relevant to the user’s search needs.

However, running Gemini on the entire browser also raises questions about information and personal data security. Google said Gemini on Chrome was developed according to strict safety standards, and added new defense mechanisms to reduce risks from online threats.

According to the company, the automatic web browsing feature is also designed to increase control for users. During some tasks such as online shopping or posting content on social networks, the system will pause and ask the user to confirm or directly complete the operation.

To use Gemini integrated into the browser, users need to update Chrome to the latest version.
