The Government proposes to the Autonomous Communities the distribution of a cultural fund of 14 million, 3 of them for rural areas

The Council of Ministers has authorized this Tuesday the transfer to the Sectoral Culture Conference of the proposal to distribute 14.5 million euros between the autonomous communitiescharged to the budget of the Ministry of Culture.

This has been stated by the Government spokesperson and Minister of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, Elma Sizewhich has indicated that three million euros will be allocated to promoting cultural activity in rural areas, with the aim of supporting cultural agents and energizing territories that have a lower population density.

Likewise, Saiz has made reference to the celebration of the World Intellectual and Industrial Property Day, which is commemorated next Sunday, April 26, a date that has been defined as an opportunity to “recognize the value of creativity, knowledge and talent”, and has stressed that Spain is a country that “creates, investigates and innovates” constantly.

“Behind every book, every song or every technological advance, there are people who add value and contribute to collective progress.. We cannot forget that the cultural sector represents more than 3 percent of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of our country,” he noted.

The minister has focused on the situation of creators, especially the youngest ones who carry out their activity in the digital environment. “They need a framework that protects their rights and guarantees that they can make a living from their talent. Because protecting intellectual property is not just protecting a work, it is protecting the effort, innovation and the future of an economic model based on knowledge,” he added.
