Today is the last day for two million Finns to check and, if necessary, complete their tax return. Leading tax expert Tero Määtt Kauppalehti gave directly from the tax administration Economic morning on Tuesday, last-minute tips on what should at least be checked on the tax return.

“It is important to check the income, that it is correct and that no income is missing,” Määttä said.

In addition, he recommended to check that the income acquisition deductions are correct.

According to Määtä, the most common tax deduction used by Finns is the travel expense deduction, which applies to trips between the workplace and home.

“Almost 700,000 people apply for it every year. Especially if you have declared a certain amount of travel expenses with your tax card application, now it’s worth checking whether they will be realized in accordance with it,” advised Määttä.

He also reminded that the studio deduction is now available to wage earners for the last time in the 2025 tax year.
