The United States security leadership meets at the White House hours before the truce expires

The National Security leadership of the Donald Trump Administration is meeting this Tuesday at the White House just hours before the expiration of the ceasefire with Iran and while uncertainty grows over the second round of negotiations between the United States and the Islamic Republic that must be held in Pakistan.

It is unclear at what exact time on Wednesday the ceasefire would expire, but Trump said Tuesday in an interview with CNBC that he does not intend to extend it.

In the event that there is no agreement, Trump warned that he hopes to resume “the bombings” because that would be “the best attitude to face the situation.”

The speaker of the Iranian Parliament, Mohamed Baqer Alibafwho leads the Tehran delegation, warned early Tuesday that his country does not accept “negotiations under the shadow of threat.”
