“At the very least, the statements of the Armenian side that the concession management of “South Caucasian Railway” CJSC allegedly creates certain competitive losses for the country, as well as the proposals to transfer this concession to third countries, seem strange,” Shevtsov said, according to TASS, adding that the contract was signed on the most favorable terms for Armenia.

Before leaving for Moscow on April 1, Armenian Prime Minister Pashinyan publicly announced that Armenia is losing its competitive advantage in the general context of regional de-blockade due to the Russian management of the Armenian railway.

The deputy secretary of the Security Council said that according to preliminary estimates, the concession will cost potential buyers at least 250 million dollars for the purchase of rights and compensations.

“In any case, the theory can always be verified in practice, and it is not excluded that the results may even exceed expectations, and Armenia’s socio-economic losses in case of leaving the EAEU may be greater than predicted,” said the deputy secretary of the Russian Security Council.

After the last tense conversation between Pashinyan and Putin in Moscow, Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia Mher Grigoryan did not hide the fact that no agreement was reached in Russia on the railway issue.
