DFB Cup: Freiburg relies on substitute keeper

Regular goalkeeper Noah Atubolu will take a seat on the bench in the Baden-Württemberg duel. There had recently been rumors of a change for the 23-year-old. The “Kicker” reported that Atubolu and his consulting agency would force the player to leave in the summer and had sent appropriate signals to those responsible in Freiburg.

Schuster’s focus is only on sport

The focus is currently on the games and training, said Schuster when asked about Atubolu. It’s “very good that we play every three or four days,” said the coach. “Then we don’t have that much time for other things.” Atubolu’s performances in the past few weeks have definitely been “very, very consistent” and the development continues to improve.

For Freiburg, things are currently happening in quick succession. Not only in the cup, but also in the Europa League they are in the semi-finals. Here they will face Sporting Braga from Portugal on April 30th and May 7th.
