Finland the under-18 boys’ ice hockey team started the World Cup victoriously on Wednesday. Norway fell 6–1 in Trencin, Slovakia.
Finland started nervously, but improved their game as the match progressed.
“Now the first game is out of the way. It’s good to start building on top of this,” the head coach Tuomo Ropo said on TV5.
As powerful men, they roamed Luca Santala (3+1) and Paavo Fugleberg (0+4).
Three of Finland’s goals came from superior play.
Finland’s World Cup tournament continues against Latvia on Friday.
