The French President announced the death of a second French peacekeeper during a Hezbollah attack.

French President Emmanuel Macron announced the death of a second French UNIFIL peacekeeper, who died from wounds previously received as a result of an attack by Hezbollah militants.

Macron said Corporal Anise Gerardin was returned for treatment a day earlier and died on Wednesday morning.

Let us remind you that the attack occurred on the morning of Saturday, April 18, when a unit of peacekeepers was carrying out the task of neutralizing and removing ammunition in one of the border areas, near the village of Dir Kifa.

According to the official UNIFIL statement, the patrol came under targeted small arms fire. As a result of the shelling, one soldier died on the spot, three more were injured of varying degrees of severity (two victims were in critical condition, they were urgently evacuated to a military hospital for medical care).
