Israel called on Poland to take measures against the MP who displayed the Israeli flag with a swastika

Israel has called on the Polish authorities to take measures against far-right deputy Konrad Berkowicz, who displayed the Israeli flag with a swastika in the parliament.
The Israeli Foreign Ministry wrote on Platform X that Berkovich’s “suspicious past includes public support for Nazism.”

Last week, Berkovic showed a self-made Israeli flag in parliament, on which a blue swastika was depicted instead of a Star of David. He accused Israel of committing “genocide” in the Middle East and compared the country to Nazi Germany, declaring: “Israel is the new Third Reich, and its flag should be just like this.”

The Israeli Foreign Ministry wrote in a statement that history has shown where racism and anti-Semitism lead, which Poland knows very well.

“Such a person has no place in the parliament of democratic Poland. We expect that the Polish authorities will take decisive and quick steps,” the Israeli Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

In response, the spokesperson of the Polish MFA stated that “MPs are elected by Poles, not foreign embassies”, emphasizing that the Speaker of the Parliament has already fined Berkowicz and reduced his parliamentary allowance. The prosecutor’s office is also handling the case.
