FC Bayern Munich: Dante becomes coach of the U23 sports

FC Bayern has found a prominent coach for its second team. According to SZ information, the former defender and Champions League winner Dante will take over the U23 and thus be the successor to Holger Seitz. The negotiations are about to be concluded, it is said. Another task should be found for Seitz in the club. There is a verbal agreement and Dante also has the necessary trainer licenses.

The personnel is probably related to Michael Wiesinger, the new head of sports and youth development will officially start work on campus on May 1st, but is obviously already involved in the planning.

Like Wiesinger, who won two German championships, a cup and the Champions League with FCB from 1999 to 2001, Dante can also look back on an extremely successful time at Bayern. The central defender experienced the most successful time of his career in Munich, winning a total of eleven titles, including the Champions League in 2013 in the historic triple year. In 2016 he moved to France to OGC Nice, where he is still active as team captain. However, he has long since decided to end his career in the summer.

The 42-year-old made it clear in an interview with the FCB club magazine 51 a year and a half ago that he would like to work as a coach. He wants to pass on his experience from more than 600 competitive games “and make every single player better, as a footballer and as a person.” His dream is to one day return to FC Bayern as a coach, and this will now come true.

It is unclear whether the Brazilian will take over the Youth League team, which was previously looked after by the U19 coach, in addition to the so-called amateurs. Because Peter Gaydarov is leaving the German record champions, this personnel appointment is still open. Dante was an identification figure at FC Bayern; he should pass on his great international experience, including playing under Jupp Heynckes and Pep Guardiola, to the Bayern talents in the future.
