Premier League: Chelsea throws out coach Rosenior after almost four months

The troubled Chelsea FC has parted ways with coach Liam Rosenior after less than four months. The London club is reacting to the negative series of five defeats in which Chelsea did not score a single goal.

Rosenior moved from Racing Strasbourg in January and signed a six and a half year contract. The previous youth coach Callum McFarlane will look after the team until the end of the season.

Chelsea are hoping for Europe and the FA Cup

“This decision was not an easy one for the club, but recent results and performances have fallen short of the required standards, despite there being so much at stake this season,” the club said. On Sunday Chelsea will play the FA Cup semi-final against Leeds United.

Due to the 3-0 defeat at Brighton & Hove Albion, the Blues were overtaken in the Premier League table by their direct competitor for an international place. In seventh place, Chelsea is two points behind sixth place, which entitles it to participate in the Europa League. The chance of a place in the Champions League is only mathematical.

Five coaches in four years

Rosenior was the fifth head coach at Stamford Bridge since the club, under new management, parted ways with Champions League winner and current England coach Thomas Tuchel almost four years ago. Previously, Graham Potter, Frank Lampard, Mauricio Pochettino and Enzo Maresca sat in the dugout.
