Lamine Yamal will not play again this season, but he would be in the World Cup

FC Barcelona player Lamine Yamal suffers an injury to the femoral biceps in his left leg and will miss the remainder of the season with the Blaugrana team, although it is expected that he may be available for Luis de la Fuente to compete in this summer’s World Cup with the Spanish team in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

“The first team player Lamine Yamal has an injury to the femoral biceps of his left leg. The player will follow conservative treatment. Lamine Yamal will miss the remainder of the season and is expected to be available for the World Cup,” the Blaugrana club reported this Thursday in a statement.

The Blaugrana winger was injured this Wednesday during Barça’s victory against RC Celta de Vigo (1-0) at the Spotify Camp Nou, in a match corresponding to matchday 33 of LaLiga EA Sports.

The action occurred in the 41st minute, when Lamine Yamal converted the penalty that ended up giving Hansi Flick’s team the victory. As soon as he took the shot, the Spanish international noticed discomfort, asked for a change and ended up lying on the grass, visibly in pain.

The loss represents a major setback for Barça in the final stretch of the season, since despite the 9 points difference they have in the League – the only competition they can win – with respect to Real Madrid, second, there are six games left to play (18 points at stake) and the Clásico at the Spotify Camp Nou is pending.

On the other hand, the club indicates in its medical report that the attacker can arrive in time for the World Cup, a great summer objective for Spain and for the ’10’ on a personal level.
