Dairy products will become more expensive in Israel on May 1

The price increase for most dairy products will be 10 agorot per unit, and for hard cheeses sold by weight – 60 agorot per kilogram.

The bulk of the price increase is due to a retroactive component of about 1.28% – a consequence of the agreement signed by Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich with dairies.

The agreement aims to compensate businesses for years during which previous finance ministers Moshe Kahlon and Avigdor Lieberman refrained from approving price indexation, despite the calculation formula indicating such a need.

With the introduction of new prices, a liter package of milk with 3% fat will rise in price by 7 agorot: from 7.28 to 7.35 shekels. A 250 ml package of cream will increase in price from 7.56 to 7.64 shekels. Emek cheese (28% fat content) will rise in price from 52.3 to 52.85 shekels per kilogram.
