Tour de Romandie: Dorian Godon takes on Tadej Pogacar in the prologue and dons the yellow jersey

For several weeks, Dorian Godon (Ineos-Grenadiers) has been in great shape. The French cycling champion gleaned his fourth victory since mid-March, this Tuesday during the prologue of the Tour de Romandie. All in front of the huge favorite Tadej Pogacar.

The 29-year-old Frenchman finished at the head of the 3.2 km time trial run around Villars-sur-Glâne, in Switzerland, with a time of 3’35”12, he finished six seconds ahead of the Portuguese Ivo Oliveira and the Swede Jakob Söderqvist, seven seconds ahead of the Slovenian Tadej Pogacar.

The latter, ranked fifth in the prologue, would have taken “less risks” for his first time of the season, according to Dorian Godon. “It’s not tomorrow (Wednesday) that I’m going to beat him, so there weren’t 50 possibilities,” the Frenchman laughed.

A form of fire

Already winner of the 7th stage of Paris-Nice but also of the 1st and 3rd of the Tour of Catalonia since mid-March, Dorian Godon enjoyed speaking to the Swiss channel RTS: “I really loved it. I took the turns hard, I took a little risk. »

He also enjoyed showing “another side of cycling”, on times which are not necessarily “20, 30, 40 km”.
