Domestic workers will receive four consecutive increases between April and July

The established increases will be 1.8% for April, 1.6% for May, 1.5% for June and 1.4% for July. In addition, 50% of the non-remunerative sum for March was incorporated into basic salaries in April and the remaining 50% in July.

The non-remunerative sum for February and March was $ 20.000 for personnel who provide tasks 16 or more hours per week; $11,500 for those who provide tasks between 12 and less than 16 hours per week and $8,000 for those who provide tasks for less than 12 hours per week.

The incorporation of the non-remunerative increase in halves to the basics does not represent a salary increase but rather a change in the modality of a bonus that the sector was already charging.

On the other hand, at the previous Commission meeting an increase of 1.5% for February and another 1.5% for March was approved, in both cases below inflation. And 1.8% for April would also be lower than inflation, which is estimated at around 2.5%/3%.

With the 1.8% increase, the salary of general tasks employees with retirement – the largest category – is $428,347 (plus $10,000 non-remunerative) or $3,491. In November 2023 it was $160,791.

It represents an increase of 172.6% in 29 months versus inflation, as of April of 303%.

Thus, domestic staff – with 1.7 million workers, with more than 75% informality – will accumulate during the current Government administration a drop equivalent to just over a third of their purchasing power, above the losses under previous governments.

On the other hand, the additional amount for unfavorable areas was updated, setting its total amount at 31% (previously it was 30%) on the minimum wages corresponding to each of the categories.

“It should be noted that the salaries agreed upon in this agreement constitute the legally established minimums and are framed in the concept of dynamic salary, which allows the parties to the employment relationship to negotiate better salary conditions,” the official statement clarifies.

Finally, a new meeting of the Commission was agreed for July.

The staff of Casas Particulares is the largest labor sector, with greater informality and a drop in real wages almost similar to that of employees in the national public sector.

The latest Indec Labor Informality Report (fourth quarter of 2025) places domestic staff with 78% of unregistered employment, the highest percentage among all activities, followed with 73.8% in construction.
