Mr. Khuat Viet Hung joins Vietjet’s Board of Directors

Mr. Khuat Viet Hung was elected to the Board of Directors (BOD) of Vietjet airline for the 2022-2027 term at the annual meeting at the end of April.

Previously, Mr. Hung stopped being Chairman of the Board of Members of Hanoi Railway Company Limited (Hanoi Metro) according to his personal wishes from the beginning of April. Born in 1974, he was well-trained and had many years of experience in the field of transportation management and traffic safety.

Mr. Hung used to work as Director of the Institute of Transportation Planning and Management and Director of the Center for International Cooperation in Transportation Training and Research. After that, he held the position of Director of Transport Department, and Vice Chairman of the National Traffic Safety Committee.

In addition to Mr. Hung, Vietjet’s general meeting of shareholders also elected another member of the Board of Directors, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Son, CEO. This airline also assigned Mr. Son as General Director, replacing Mr. Dinh Viet Phuong from April 29. Mr. Phuong was appointed as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vietjet.

This year, the company plans a consolidated revenue of 86,774 billion VND, an increase of 23.5% compared to 2025. Consolidated profit before tax is expected to increase 14.5% to 2,421 billion VND.

Vietjet also achieved its goal of increasing its fleet to 115 aircraft this year. The low-cost airline will also expand its international flight network, targeting European and American markets…

Last year, billionaire Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao’s airline operated 135 aircraft, of which 101 were in Vietnam. The airline operates 254 routes, serving 28.2 million passengers with more than 153,000 flights.

Vietjet continues to expand its fleet with an order for 100 A321neo ships and 50 additional purchase options from Airbus, along with 20 A330neo wide-body ships. Accordingly, Vietjet is among the group of airlines with large orders in the world.
