Conservative viewers in view: Amazon is reportedly considering rebooting the Trump show “The Apprentice”.

Is Donald Trump’s old hit show coming back? According to media reports, the US company Amazon is considering a reboot of the reality TV show “The Apprentice” on Prime Video – and is apparently also thinking about one prominent new line-up after. According to information from the company, Donald Trump Jr., the eldest son of the US President, is considered a possible moderator.

The considerations are therefore still at an early stage. The project is neither officially in development nor has Amazon contacted the Trump family, according to a report in the Wall Street Journal. A spokesman simply confirmed this “first internal discussions” about what could happen next for “The Apprentice” brand.

The show originally ran on NBC from 2004 to 2015 and lasted 14 seasons. In the show, candidates competed against each other in business tasks. At the end of each episode, one contestant had to leave.

At the center of the show was Donald Trump, who acted as a strict entrepreneur, let the candidates compete, evaluated their performances and at the end gave the verdict. His “You’re fired” became the show’s trademark.

“The Apprentice” significantly shaped Donald Trump’s image as a successful businessman and made him known to a wider audience – long before he entered politics.

According to the WSJ, Amazon’s current considerations about a new edition are related to one broader program strategy of the group. Internally, there has been discussion for some time about developing content that also conservative viewers and potential Trump voters address.

At the same time, Amazon is expanding its offering in additional niches. Mike Hopkins, head of Amazon MGM Studios, is pushing harder, according to former executives religiously influenced content to differentiate Prime Video from competitors, writes the WSJ.

To this end, the group works with the Wonder Project studio, among others, and publishes, for example die Serie „House of David“ about the story of the biblical king. Amazon wants to broaden its offering and position itself more broadly in competition with platforms like Netflix.
