Iran | Donald Trump defends blockade of the Strait of Hormuz and insists that he is not “satisfied” with the Iranian offer

The president of the USA, Donald Trump defended this Friday the effect that the US blockade of ships originating and destined for Iranian ports is having around the Strait of Hormuz and insisted that he is “not satisfied” with Tehran’s latest offer to try to agree to an end to the war.

Despite the absence of an agreement, on April 21, Trump announced a unilateral ceasefire of indefinite duration, although he assured that Washington will continue to prevent the passage of Iranian ships through the Strait of Hormuz in an attempt to economically strangle Tehran.

“The blockade has been incredibly powerful. It has been an incredible thing. If we pulled out right now, we would have achieved a great victory; but we are not going to do that,” Trump added.

The president once again insisted that the Iranian leadership “is very fragmented” and that the White House is considering military measures if an agreement is not reached with Iran to end the war and reopen the Strait of Hormuz, through which a good part of the hydrocarbons exported globally pass.
